Legend says...

Jared stood at the cross-roads, looking over at the statue. The statue had stood there for as long as anyone could remember. It was of a man, standing tall and proud, facing into the rising sun. His hair is long and seemed to curl gently at the edges, he is wearing a long cloak and at his side is a long sword upon which his hand rests, at the ready. Further details have been worn away by the passage of time, and elements. But, there is a spot near the base that has been polished smooth. Not by anything that nature has thrown at it, but rather by the passage of hands that have caressed that one spot. It is said that the statue is of a man who's love had been kidnapped. Her parents hadn't approved of the union and stole her away in the night then fled down this road. Legend says, that he mounted his faithful stead and rode off into the sunrise after them. He searched for years, coming back to town often to see if she had ever made her way back home. Sadly, he never found her or heard anything about her, but in searching for her, he became quite a hero. Taking fate into his own hands, he saved many people from highwaymen, slew fiery dragons, caught fairies in the woods, and found several treasures that had long been forgotten. It has always been considered good luck to touch the base of his statue. Several villages have claimed good things happening after touching the statue base. Jared had experienced some of that luck, as shortly after touching the base, he found a gold coin pressed into the mud on the side of the road. Good luck indeed.
